Preventing global warming

- The scientific evidence is now overwhelming: climate change is a serious global threat, and it demands an urgent global response.
- Climate change will affect the basic elements of life for people around the world – access to water, food production, health, and the environment. Hundreds of millions of people could suffer
- The Stern Review assessed a wide range of evidence on the impacts of climate change and on the economic costs, and used a number of different techniques to assess costs and risks. From all of these perspectives, the evidence gathered by the Review leads to a simple conclusion: the benefits of strong and early action far outweigh the economic costs of not acting.
[edit] What to do against global warming
One way to begin making a difference is to learn how the way we live impacts our global environment. The average American is responsible for about 15,000 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions each year. This per capita number is greater than that of any other industrialized country.
- Be cool! (and save the planet...)
- Calculate how much CO2 you produce, using carbon footprint calculators.
