Cobalamin or Vitamin B12 is an important water-soluble B vitamin. Its key role is the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of healthy blood and used by the body to make proteins.

The richest dietary sources of cobalamin are liver, especially lamb's liver, and kidneys. Other good sources are fish, seafoods, meat, poultry, eggs, cheese, milk, yogurt and fortified foods such as cereals.
[edit] Deficiency of Cobalamin
The classical Vitamin B12 deficiency disease is pernicious anaemia, a serious disease characterized by large, immature red blood cells.

- 9 to 13 years - 1.8 mcg
- 14 years old or older - 2.4 mcg
