[edit] Tip the Planet Editing Rules

The bottom of this page contains our "Terms of Use Agreement". First review our plain English guidelines to the Tip the Planet community:

1. A civil group effort

TipthePlanet is a group effort to create the largest green wiki in the world.

You must expect your writing to be modified, criticized constructively, or improved by others. Changes should be viewed in the spirit of improvement and not as a criticism of your approach or capabilities. On the other hand, when editing someone else's work, always be friendly, civil, and supportive. Never make any personal attacks. Assume good faith in everyone's efforts. Remember that contributors volunteer to help build this great resource, so please be nice to them. Writers and editors who can't cooperate and work for the best interest of the group will be discouraged or prevented from participating. If you have some issue with an article, you can contact the author whose information you want to discuss, or you can start a discussion.

2. Helpful instructions

Articles should contribute to our knowledge of social and environmental issues. We believe that profanity, adult content, hate based, recreational drug focused, and vanity pages are inappropriate. We will also aim to delete anything that proposes to cause harm or is illegal.

3. Limit advertising

While we do allow organizations and products to be listed, the mission of this site is to increase environmental awareness. As such, if content is added for purely marketing reasons, rather than informational, it will be removed. While we encourage useful articles about how to shop and buy things, writers should refrain from creating articles to purely promote one specific business without providing useful insights to our readers. While you are welcome to post an external hyperlink, the community reserves the right to delete hyperlinks or entire articles that over step the bounds and do not contribute to improved knowledge.

4. Creative Commons Licensed

Tip the Planet licenses its text under a Creative Commons License. Please click on the link at the bottom of this page for more information
