Stress is define as a total body response of an organism to its environmental pressure and demand. However, stressor is used for the stimulus that provokes stress response.
- It is an event or a set of crisis causing a disruptive response which the disruption is caused by noxious stimuli or stressor.

- Internal stressor which originate within the person. For example feeling of depression or anger.
- External stressor which originate outside the person. For example a pressure from the school or a death of someone.
- Developmental stressor which occurs at predictable times throughout a person's life. Example in childhood, a child experience stress during beginning of school.
- Situational stress occurs very unpredictable and any time throughout individual's life.

The effect of stress is totally mixed because it can affect the whole individual. But the effect can be physical, emotional, social and intellectual.
- Physical stress can affect the individual's homeostasis or the internal stability of a person.
- Emotional or psychological stress can cause negative feelings towards self.See some Tips for mental health problems.
- Social stress can affect the individual's relationship with others.
- Intellectual stress can affect individual's thinking and problem-solving abilities.

- Stress indicators may be physiological and psychological.
- Physiologic Indications includes dilation of pupils, increase of heart rate and cardiac output, perspiration, drying of mouth, decrease peristaltic movement of the intestine, increase muscle tension., etc.
- Psychological Indicators includes anxiety, fear, anger, and depression.

- Exercise is the best intervention in intervening stress. Though there are a lot of stress management, exercise is the best way of managing stress. Aside from its effect to human body, it is cost-effective and eco-friendly. Laughing and smiling is the best exercise in combating stress both physical and emotional stress.
[edit] Release Tension With Stress Relief Breathing
Breathing exercises are an ideal way to relieve stress in that they're fast, simple, free, and can be performed by just about anyone. They can be performed by just about anyone. They can also be done anywhere and at virtually any time. These factors make stress relief breathing exercises one of my most popular and convenient tension tamers.

- Sit or stand in a relaxed position.
- Slowly inhale through your nose, counting to five in your head.
- Let the air out from your mouth, counting to eight in your head as it leaves your lungs. Repeat several times. That's it!

- As you breathe, let your abdomen expand outward, rather than raising your shoulders. This is a more relaxed and natural way to breathe, and helps your lungs fill themselves more fully with fresh air, releasing more "old" air.
- You can do this just a few times to release tension, or for several minutes as a form of meditation.
- If you like, you can make your throat a little tighter as you exhale so the air comes out like a whisper. This type of breathing is used in some forms of yoga and can add additional tension relief.

- Deep breathing is an easy stress reliever that has numerous benefits for the body, including oxygenating the blood, which 'wakes up' the brain, relaxing muscles and quieting the mind. Breathing exercises are especially helpful because you can do them anywhere, and they work quickly so you can de-stress in a flash.

- Meditation builds on deep breathing, and takes it a step further. When you meditate, your brain enters an area of functioning that's similar to sleep, but carries some added benefits you can't achieve as well in any other state, including the release of certain hormones that promote health. Also, the mental focus on nothingness keeps your mind from working overtime and increasing your stress level.

- It takes slightly more time to practice guided imagery, but this is a great way to leave your stress behind for a while and relax your body. Some find it easier to practice than meditation, as lots of us find it more doable to fucos on 'something' than on 'nothing'. You can play natural sounds in the background as you practice, to promote a more immersive experience.

- Building on guided imagery, you can also imagine yourself achieving goals like becoming healthier and more relaxed, doing well at tasks, and handling conflict in better ways. Also, visualizing yourself doing well on tasks you're trying to master actually functions like physical practice, so you can improve your performance through visualizations as well!

- Incorporates some of the features of guided imagery and visualizations, with the added benefit of enabling you to communicate directly your subconscious mind to enhance your abilities, more easily give up bad habits, feel less pain, more effectively develop healthier habits, and even find answers to questions that may not be clear to your walking mind! - Many people exercise to control weight and get in better physical condition to become more healthy or physically attractive, but exercise and stress management are also closely linked. Exercise provides a distraction from stressful situations, as well as an outlet for frustrations, and gives you a lift via endorphins as well.
[edit] Progressive Muscle Relaxation
- By tensing and relaxing all the muscle groups in your body, you can relieve tension and feel much more relaxed in a minutes, with no special training or equipment. Start by tensing all the muscles in your face, holding a thight grimace ten seconds, then completely relaxing for ten seconds. Repeat this with your neck, followed by your shoulder, etc. You can do this anywhere and as you practice, you will find you can relax more quickly and easily, reducing tension as quickly as it start!

- You probably already know that sex is a great tension reliever, but have you officially thought of it as a stress-relieving practice? Perhaps you should.
