Solar powered parking meters

Solar-powered parking meters are fitted with highly efficient solar panels, integrated with the top of the machines, to keep the integral battery fully charged. They prove more efficient and reliable than the mains powered ones and by virtue of having their own power source laying underground power mains is avoided close to halving the overall installation cost for the machines. Some Solar powered parking meters allow drivers to take their unused time to another parking spot in the city (see E-Z Park Debit Card).
