Safety Tips for LPG

[edit] For LPG appliances
- Always use BIS approved appliances
- Obtain BIS approved rubber tubes and LPG regulators from authorized distributors only
- While receiving cylinders
Check the cylinder has been delivered with the company seal and safety cap intact If you are not sure about usage, please ask the delivery person for a demonstration Cylinders must be installed at ground level on a level surface
[edit] Before Usage
- Check to see that rubber ‘O’ ring inside the cylinder valve is present
- Check for any visible signs of leakage − through visual inspection, soap solution or smell
- Never use lighted match-sticks for checking leaks
- Always keep the cylinder in upright position at ground level at a well ventilated place
- Do not install the LPG cylinder in the cabinet
- The LPG stove must always be installed on kitchen slab at height above the cylinder
- The cylinder must be kept away from other sources of heat
[edit] After Usage
- Close the regulator knob to ‘OFF’ position when cylinder is not in use
- The empty cylinders must be stored in a cool and well ventilated place with safety cap put ON

- Replace your rubber tube at least every two years
- Get your gas appliances periodically serviced

- Do not Panic
- Do not Switch On or Switch Off any electrical appliances in the room
- Isolate main electrical supply from the outside only
- Extinguish all flames, lamps, incense sticks, etc
- Close the appliance and LPG regulator
- Put On the Safety Cap on the cylinder
- Open all Doors & Windows for ventilation
- Never use an electric fan for ventilation
- Call your SUPER Gas dealer / Company for help

- Always use BIS approved appliances
- Obtain BIS approved pig-tails and regulators / adaptors from authorized suppliers or service providers
- Never use screw-type adaptors

- Only authorized personnel should enter into the LPG installation
- Check the cylinder has been delivered with the company seal and safety cap intact
- Don’t move around the cylinder by dragging, rolling on body or dropping from height. Always use ramp installed in truck for cylinder loading and unloading.

- Never use the cylinders in horizontal position
- Use all cylinders in one bank at the same time

- Get your gas appliances periodically serviced
- Get your LPG manifold periodically serviced
- Before carrying out any maintenance work, a work permit shall be obtained
- All maintenance operations inside the LPG yard must be carried out by authorized service personnel only
- No hot work like welding, cutting, heating shall be carried inside the LPG installation (fenced area)
- All maintenance work for burners or combustion system should be carried out through authorized service personnel

[edit] Safety Tips for bulk LPG handling
[edit] While receiving Bulk LPG
- Only authorized personnel should be permitted to enter into the LPG yard
- Always ensure proper earthing connections to the mobile LPG tanker before unloading operation
- Do not engage damaged / leaky hoses for unloading the tanker
- Do not carry out unloading operation during night time , Heavy rains, Thunder storms, Lighting etc
- Always tighten all fasteners of the LPG unloading hoses fully to the mobile tanker, replace gasket whenever *unloading of LPG tanker takes place
- Do not overfill the LPG storage tank beyond the maximum filling limit of 85%
- Ensure hoses are depressurized prior to disconnecting from the tanker
[edit] LPG Operations:
- All LPG operations must be carried out by personnel well trained in LPG operations
- Maintain good housekeeping inside the LPG yard. Remove all dry vegetation and other flammable materials
- Avoid all sources of ignition and make sure the “No Smoking” signs and other Safety signage’s are displayed
- Care should be taken when draining water (present if any) from storage tank in order to prevent escape of LPG/Propane
