Natural traction tips
From TipThePlanet
- Spread gritty alfalfa meal—available from feed stores—on slippery paths to provide traction on ice and snow. In spring, the alfalfa serves as a nitrogen-fertilizer for surrounding greenery.
- Or use the Bare Ground Deicer made of corn, grain or agricultural processing which lasts up to 8x times the coverage of salt. Bare Ground can also be employed as an anti-snow agent prior to a snow storm or ice storm.
- For just plain traction, cover ice with wood ashes, coal cinders, sand, or cat litter.
