However, this is also among the most accident prone areas of the house. This is because of the items found here. There are the sharp objects like the knife, peeler and openers. There are also hot surfaces here such as the cooking stove and the oven toaster. Since this is the case, it is important that all family members take the necessary precautions when they are in the kitchen whether they are cooking or not.

However, there are limitations as to what they can do and use. In addition to that, you need to be organized in the kitchen to prevent accidents. You do not want to tip over the liquid ingredients while cooking.
When arranging the items in the kitchen, see to it that you keep flammable objects away from the cooking stove. This includes the flammable liquids like oil and grease. Keep the cloth and pot holders away from the flames as well.
Wear the right clothes
It is essential that you wear clean clothes when cooking. This is because you are preparing your food. However, aside from being clean, see to it that you do not wear baggy clothes. This can catch flames easily too.
Watch what you are cooking
Do not leave what you are cooking in the kitchen especially if it cooks easily. You can easily forget about it. If it will take a while before it cooks, use a timer. Set it at your expected time for the food to cook. You have to check on what you are cooking from time even if you have the timer just to make sure that everything is good in the kitchen.
Before you leave the kitchen, make sure that everything is in order. No flammable items should be near the cooking stove.
It is also best to invest in good kitchen appliances. There are appliances with top notch safety features. There are those that do not use live flames. Others turn off automatically when the surface gets too hot. To avoid accidents in the kitchen, invest in devices that have great safety features.
Have a fire safety device handy
A fire is likely to occur in the kitchen. Because of this risk, you need to have a fire extinguisher installed there. You should be able to reach it in case a fire breaks. Do not place it next to possible causes of fire like the cooking stove. You can also use a fire blanket. Just make sure that you know how to use the said safety devices.
