Don't overfill the kettle
From TipThePlanet
- Kettles use a lot of power. A typical household model requires about 2400 watts, thats the equivelent of switching on 160 energy saving lightbulbs for however long your boiling the kettle! *
- You can save a lot of energy by only using the amount of water you need. If you're making tea for one, only use one cup of water. You can measure the water you need using the cup(s) you make your tea in.
- When you next need to replace your kettle there are a number on the market now that boil and dispense one cup at a time, they are quick and very energy efficient.
* A Typical fluorescent bulb uses about 15 watts. 2400 divided by 15 = 160.
