Central heating programmers

It allows you to set times for your heating to come on and go off to suit your lifestyle. Once set, the programmer automatically controls the times at which your central heating system switches on and off.

It really depends on you and your lifestyle. Its best to set your heating to come on about half an hour before you want your home warm, and to go off about half an hour before you go out or go to bed. Ideally you should run the system in two periods and for no more than 9 hours per day in total.

If you are working regular hours, a simple solution to heat your home more efficiently is to time your heating to go off 30 minutes before you leave the house, and come on again 30 minutes before you are due to get back.

If you come home feeling chilly and the heating is timed to be off, pressing the Override button will bring the heating on; it will go off again at its normal 'off' time set in the evening. On the other hand, if the heating is on, pressing the Override will switch it off and it will come back on at the next time set. The same applies for hot water.

Your heating/hot water will come on for one period in the day - coming on at the first time set and switching off at the last time set.

Try doing an internet search. If you type in the make and model of your programmer, you can often download an instruction manual.
