Prince Charles	British	British royal, Environmentalist	His Royal Highness has been the pioneer in promoting organic farming in Britain. His Duchy Home Farm went organic way back in 1986. He has also been vocal about his concerns regarding global warming. He made a film this year titled 'Harmony', which is about climate changes and the attempts to find innovative solutions to global environmental problems. He has described the tv movie as "an urgent, accessible and practical call to action".
Jacques-Yves Cousteau	French	Ecologist, Inventor, Filmmaker, Activist	Known fondly as "le Commandant Cousteau" or "Captain Cousteau", Jacques studied the sea and all forms of life in water. An oceanographic technician and a lover of nature, his work permitted many people to explore the resources of the oceans. His legacy includes more than 120 television documentaries, more than 50 books, and an environmental protection foundation with 300,000 members. He also co-developed the aqua-lung, pioneered marine conservation and was a member of the Académie française.
Rachel Louise Carson	American	Marine Biologist, Writer, Activist	A nature writer whose writings are credited with advancing the global environmental movement. She fought for new policies to protect human health and the environment. Her witness for the beauty and integrity of life continues to inspire new generations to protect the living world and all its creatures.
