Buying local vegetables
From TipThePlanet
One of the single biggest ways to go greener is by reducing your food miles - the distance your shopping has travelled before it arrives in your kitchen. Despite their increasingly green marketing angles, most supermarkets still perform very poorly on this.
- A local veg box shared between friends is a few quid a week, and the perfect way to slash your food miles while eating good food. So if you're self-catering at university why not try a doorstep delivery from one of the many veg box scheme providers?
- If you live in London, chose from the many different veg and fruit bag options of the organic home delivery service Farmaround.
- Check out the 100-mile diet to only eat things produced within 100 miles from you.
