[edit] Our Software

We use MediaWiki, the open source software created by the Wikimedia Foundation. It is available for free under the GNU General Public License.

In addition, the idea for Tip the Planet was inspired by Wikipedia, a free-content encyclopedia built on the same wiki software platform. Wikipedia is a free resource that benefits the whole world. We feel indebted to the Wikipedians for inspiring us and showing us how magnificent a wiki can be. We hope that we can make a significant difference to the planet through our own efforts.

[edit] Our beliefs

Our aim is to provide a balanced and impartial guide to environmental issues. As anyone can contribute to this wiki, there may be things you feel need to be changed or even deleted. If so, please go ahead and edit any of our pages. We want to provide the very best possible service to you users, so if there's anything you'd like to change, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at info@tiptheplanet.com

[edit] How we support ourselves financially

Tip the Planet uses clearly-marked advertising for non registered visitors (we don't show adverts to our regular visitors). Advertising in this way means we earn small amounts of money that enable us to pay for hosting and servers and maintenance of the project. We love wikiHow's mission and currently try to emulate their approach.
